Eviction Prevention Program Overview

All renters in the City of San Bernardino who meet the eligibility requirements may receive onetime rental assistance under the Eviction Prevention Program. Eligible households  can receive assistance to cover past due rents.  Funds are paid directly to the landlord.  Please click here for the more information, including qualifications and how to apply.

IT IS FURTHER PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED that for a period of 60 days from the date of this Order, a temporary moratorium on eviction for non-payment of rent by residential and business tenants impacted by the COVID-19 crisis is imposed as follows: 1. During the period of local emergency declared in response to COVID-19, no landlord shall endeavor to evict a tenant in either of the following situations:

Tenants must provide written notice to the landlord within 30 days after rent is due. Ordinance prohibits eviction of tenants who demonstrate that they are unable to pay from financial impacts of COVID-19.

Temporary moratorium on foreclosures and evictions due to non-payment of rent by residential and commercial tenants impacted by the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Notify landlords in writing within 30 days of the rental due date of inability to pay rent. Notification can be by email or text if you have communicated previously with landlord through text or email. State the ways in which they have been financially impacted. Provide documentation.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM SPRINGS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOW

SECTION 1. Temporary Moratorium on Evictions for Non-Payment of Rent by
Tenants Impacted by the COVID-19 Crisis.

A. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in Palm Springs Municipal Code, during the period of local emergency declared in response to COVID-19, no landlord shall endeavor to evict a tenant for nonpayment of rent if the tenant demonstrates that the tenant is unable to pay rent due to financial impacts related to COVID-19.

Coachella

Temporary moratorium on evictions for non-payment of rent by residential tenants impacted by COVID-19.

 

Tenant must, within 30 days after the date that rent is due:

  1. Notify the landlord in writing of lost income and inability to pay full rent due to financial impacts related to COVID-19, and
  2. Provide documentation to support the claim.

Esusu No Interest Loans for COVID-19 Rent Relief

Funds will be in an amount between $250 and $1000 depending on total monthly rent, loss of income, net rent excluding housing credit, and household size. Loan size will be determined by our fund committee.

 

All recipients will receive a three to six month grace period during which no payments need to be made. Subsequently reciepients will be required to repay the loan over the following 12 months in equal installments or lump sum. There are no interest, origination, or other fees at anytime.
