📢 Chapter-Wide Deliberative Meeting — Tabled Legislation

Join us for a Chapter-Wide Deliberative (CWD) meeting to continue the discussion of legislation tabled at our last General Membership meeting.

This meeting will give members dedicated time to review, discuss, ask questions about, and deliberate on the following items before they return to the floor:

Block 1

Fair and Timely Elections Resolution

IE DSA’s Accounting and Fiscal Policy Amendments

Block 2

Support Unity, Deny Splits Resolution

Mise En Place Amendment

If you weren’t able to participate in the last GM, this is a great opportunity to get caught up and engage with the proposals before they’re considered again.

Come ready to read, discuss, ask questions, and help shape the direction of the chapter.

Come join IE DSA at Back to the Grind for our next book club series; this time we cover “Socialism… Seriously” by Danny Katch! Starting this Wednesday, August 19th from 5-6 PM and meeting every Wednesday after! Our first session will cover the Introduction and Chapter One.

Feel free to bring a friend! This book club is open to all, and you are welcome to join even if you cannot complete the assigned reading. Come hear what your fellow comrades have to say!

The format for this is simple. We meet once per month and do some “light reading.” A recently published article from a leftist news source relevant to the work we do in DSA. These articles will be paired with a supplemental article or book excerpt that makes the connection between current events and the socialist theory that drives our movement.

 The two articles combined will always be less than 10 pages of reading total, for those who want to be in a reading group but may not have the capacity to keep up with book study. These events are always going to be very “bring a friend” friendly in that since we’ll always be doing a new reading, there’s no risk of being “too far behind.”

The supplemental article will be an excerpt from Karl Marx, “On the Jewish Question” (1843), Section I excerpt on the “rights of man.” This is an excerpt from one of Marx’s more controversial writings because of antisemitic comments in other parts of the letter, but this excerpt just really nails the concept of privacy so much better than anything else I’m aware of. 📢 **IE DSA Special Meeting: 2028 Presidential Primary**

Join us for a chapter-wide discussion on what we want to see from a potential 2028 presidential campaign and what role DSA should play in it.

We’ll break into small groups to discuss:

* What kind of candidate and campaign do we want?
* How can a presidential campaign strengthen our existing organizing?
* How could it help grow DSA and build long-term socialist infrastructure?
* What are the risks and challenges of an endorsement?

**This is NOT an endorsement meeting.** We’re gathering member input to help shape IE DSA’s response to DSA National’s 2028 member input process.
